No previous knowledge is required. Most students have sat Junior Certificate Science and a few have sat examinations in one or more Leaving Certificate science subjects. Whereas this benefits the student in terms of content knowledge, it may prove a hinderance in terms of developing the pedagogical skills in teaching science in primary school.
